When I’m not geeking out at my full-time digital marketing job or designing a t-shirt, I’m serving at my church as a volunteer worship leader. If you haven’t figured it out by now, I’m a huge Hillsong United fan. So naturally we’re playing their music at our home and in our cars.
A lot.
We have been studying 1 Timothy for a couple of months and are diving into a discussion about sin this weekend. For some reason or another, “Scandal of Grace,” written by Joel Houston and Matt Crocker of Hillsong United, has been on my heart this week…so I thought it would be a great weekend to introduce this song to the church. It’s been a few weeks since I’ve created a Pinterest or Instagram graphic so I took the first few lines of the song and created this graphic which I posted on our Pinterest & Instagram page.
Grace, what have You done?
Murdered for me on that cross
Accused in absence of wrong
My sin washed away in Your blood
Too much to make sense of it all
I know that Your love breaks my fall
The scandal of grace, You died in my place
So my soul will live
Oh to be like You
(To) Give all I have just to know You
Jesus, there’s no One besides You
Forever the Hope in my heart
Death, where is your sting?
Your power is as dead as my sin
The cross has taught me to live
In mercy, my heart now to sing
The day and its trouble shall come
I know that Your strength is enough
The scandal of grace, You died in my place
So my soul will live
And it’s all because of You, Jesus
It’s all because of You, Jesus
It’s all because of Your love
And my soul will live
Oh to be like You
(To) Give all I have just to know You
Jesus, there’s no One besides You
