I like Switchfoot. Period.
Jon Foreman is a class act as evidenced by this Huffington Post article penned in response to protesters telling concert goers that “Switchfoot will lead you straight to hell.” Check out this message he shared with the fans at one of his recent concerts at the Varsity Theater in Baton Rouge, LA.
The first time I saw Switchfoot was in the late 1990’s when I saw them play at Sonshine Festival in lovely Willmar, MN. I vividly remember Jon Foreman being completely approachable and kind, walking around with the crowds and handing out Switchfoot stickers (which I still have). Been then I remember around that time, they had a great simple t-shirt that read: “I Like Switchfoot.”
That always stuck with me and was part of the inspiration of our latest line of “I Like Jesus” t-shirts.
Note: You should definitely check out Switchfoot’s t-shirts. They are amazing!
Now I know that Matthew 22 says, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” Then in Luke, Jesus commands us to “love your neighbor as yourself.” I think that’s what Jon has been trying to do all along by showering the protesters with God’s love. And that’s a command I try to follow as well. But I genuinely like Jesus too. So we came out with these t-shirts as conversation starters as a simple way to share your faith.
